Semivolatile Organic (SVOC) Analysis

The analysis of acid and base neutral extractbale compounds can be particularly challenging in sediment and tissue sample matrices. Alpha has considerable experience with this analysis and these matrices, allowing us to achieve the best possible performance by minimizing matrix interference.

Alpha Analytical performs all SVOC analyses by Gas Chromatography/low-resolution Mass Spectrometry (GC/LRMS) via EPA Method 8270. Samples are generally extracted utilizing EPA Method 3570 - Microscale Solvent Extraction (MSE). Sample extracts can be cleaned up to minimize interferences using silica gel or gel permeation chromatography (GPC), as well as a number of additional techniques, as necessary.
